Public Health Officials
Over the past year, the field of influenza preparedness has been confronted with major new developments, including the development of antiviral resistance, the development and licensing of vaccines for pre-pandemic storage or usage and the advent of new insights in the importance and possibilities of non-medical interventions. Public health officials need to remain on top of these evolutions, in order to constantly adapt and update national and international pandemic planning strategies. For that reason, the European Scientific Working group on Influenza (ESWI) developed a tailor-made programme for Public Health Officials.
On 23 January 2009, ESWI organized the first Pre-Pandemic Preparation Workshop for public health officials, which provided evidence-based and objective state-of-the-art information about influenza preparedness topics.
On 25 September 2009, ESWI organizes its second Pandemic Preparation Workshop for public health officials, dedicated to the Mexican flu pandemic. More info and a registration module is to be found on www.eswiworkshop.org

ESWI proudly presents its Q&A Book on Influenza. 101 Questions and Answers on Influenza is a major work of reference for anyone with an interest in flu.
