One Year of HERA
The European Health Emergency Preparedness and Response Authority (HERA), a key pillar of the European Health Union, celebrates its one year anniversary. This is the moment to reflect upon HERA’s development from emergency to structured response, to acknowledge its achievements during its first year of existence and to explore its way forward to better preparedness. The “One Year of HERA” conference is organised to share this momentum with our stakeholders.
This conference would be the first time that actors from the institutional EU governance networks but also from industry, research, academia, civil society, national/local/regional authorities, key international organisations, partner countries as well as other stakeholders could gather together at the same time. It will be a place to share ideas, get inspired and collaborate on the topics related to health emergencies.
A choice of high-level panellists including decision-makers, civil society and experts in the field of health will stimulate discussions about HERA's main areas of activities, with three panels covering the following themes:
- Innovative medical solutions to address cross-border health threats
- Ensuring a resilient supply of medical countermeasures
- International collaborations in preparedness and response to cross-border health threats
The “One Year of HERA” conference takes place, under the auspices of the President of the European Commission, with the confirmed participation of EC Vice-President Schinas, and Commissioner Kyriakides, in charge of Health and Food Safety. The Conference will further benefit from the presence of Véronique Trillet-Lenoir, Rapporteur for the Serious Cross Border Threats to Health from the European Parliament and Vlastimil Válek, Minister of Health, Czech Republic.
The Conference strongly favours presence in person in order to provide a space for discussion, to facilitate networking, mutual learning and cooperation throughout the day. If you can’t attend in person, the conference will be streamed live on our website. The official hashtag for the conference is #HERA1Year.
