15-year-old girl dies of H5N1 virus in Prey Veng

The Ministry of Health press release said another case of avian influenza has killed a 15-year-old girl. The National Institute of Public Health and the Institute Pasteur have tested the case and proven that H5N1 bird flu virus was confirmed as the cause of death.

The adolescent victim was living in Por Mrenh village, Kanh Chriech commune, Kanh Chriech district in Prey Veng province.

The Ministry added that despite hospitalisation and intensive medical treatment, the disease progressed to the serious stage, including high fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath and fainting.
