IDC stakeholder meeting

The Interdisciplinary Disease Collaboration on Respiratory Infections and NCDs (IDC) will host a stakeholder community meeting on 10 June 2026 at 11:00 – 12:30 at the Residence Palace in Brussels.

The IDC is an informal multidisciplinary Community managed by the European Scientific Working Group on Influenza (ESWI). Our vision is to ensure optimal care for, and prevention of, respiratory virus infections in people living with non-communicable diseases. Our mission centers on the bidirectional relationship between acute respiratory infections and Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs). We know that those with NCDs face higher risks of severe infection, but we are also increasingly aware that even mild respiratory viruses can act as a catalyst for the onset or exacerbation of chronic conditions.

Our community meetings bridge and foster dialogue between science and policy with the goal of translating scientific data into effective, evidence-based approaches for diagnostics and treatment ensuring better patient outcomes.

This in-person meeting (by invitation only) will bring together key stakeholders representing different NDCs, risk groups, leading scientists and experts. It is an ideal occasion to meet face-to-face and to discuss general guidelines on prevention and immunisation strategies in people with NCDs and co-morbidities; to seek alignment, identify common interests and explore closer collaboration.

Also do not miss the opportunity to register for the ESWI Respiratory Virus Summit, entitled “Managing Acute Respiratory Virus Infections: Where Do We Go?”, which takes place a day after the IDC meeting on 11 June 2026 in the same venue. The programme includes a session on The Hidden Burden – NCDs and Respiratory Virus Infections with fantastic speakers.
