Summary Report: IDC Stakeholder Community Meeting - 10 June 2026, Brussels
On 10 June 2026, the IDC (Interdisciplinary Disease Collaboration on Respiratory Infections and Non-Communicable Diseases - NCDs) convened its first in-person community meeting in Brussels. NCD and risk group representatives, scientists, and experts came together to discuss how we can act on the growing evidence highlighting the bidirectional link between respiratory infections and NCDs.
The meeting highlighted the importance of integrating vaccination into NCD prevention and care, and identified the science-policy gap as the central challenge. It was also emphasised that communication must shift from pathogen-centred messaging to patient-centred prevention, severity, and healthy ageing.
As a next step, a draft work plan with concrete areas of action/deliverables will be circulated.
