Critical Medicines Act: New measures to tackle shortages and strengthen supply security

The new rules incentivise supply chain diversification, support collaborative procurement models and create incentives to boost pharmaceutical manufacturing in EU countries. Parliament’s position is expected to be adopted during the January 2026 plenary session, after which the two institutions will enter into negotiations to agree on the final text.
