Speech by Commissioner Várhelyi at the SANT Committee Structured Dialogue

Health Commissioner Olivér Várhelyi delivered a speech that highlighted the following priorities for the EU's health policy programme:

  • The Critical Medicines Act (CMA) 
  • The Biotech Act - which aims to accelerate the development of new treatments, and is accompanied by public investments in biotechnology
  • Revision of the Medical Device Regulations
  • The EU Safe Hearts Plan

"As you know, prevention policies are among the most efficient and cost-effective public health tools, and we will only be able to sustain the European healthcare model if we reinforce this pillar."
