WHO surveillance confirms susceptibility of influenza viruses to antivirals

At its 15th annual meeting in Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, China, on 10–12 June 2026, the WHO Working Group on Surveillance of Antiviral Susceptibility of Influenza Viruses (AVWG) reviewed global surveillance data and assessed antiviral susceptibility of contemporary viruses.

The vast majority of seasonal and zoonotic influenza viruses tested remained susceptible to neuraminidase inhibitors (NAIs) and the polymerase inhibitor, baloxavir marboxil.
